This is me.
My name’s Helena and I’m currently living in Birmingham looking for work back in London. For the last seven months I’ve been living in Barcelona teaching English. I’m a metalhead and lover of wildlife (like Gussie Finknottle with his newts, only even nerdier) inching my way towards 30. I have a lovely cat. Her name is Rosie. Life is generally pretty great.
So why the blog and what’s it all about? Well, I realised recently that I’d let my life become somewhat… regimented. Here I was, living in a lovely city full of fun, and what was I doing with my time? Well, mostly staying holed up in my room watching detective shows, wasting time on the internet and listening to metal. Hmm.
I can’t remember exactly what I thought I would become when I was 14 or so but I’m pretty sure it involved adventure, excitement and making the most of my life. Instead of that, what has happened? I’m rapidly approaching a point at which I will have become…
BORING.

OH MY GOD!
This is my attempt to not be boring. Rather an extreme attempt, but we’ll see how it goes.
I intend, for the next year, to do something new every day. To seek out new experiences, places and activities.
Now, by ‘new experiences’ I don’t mean ‘Ooh, I’ve never tried beetroot, today is my day to try beetroot!’ No.

This is not an experience.
What I mean is something exciting and new – something I have never done before and, preferably, something which takes me a little out of my comfort zone.
Off we go!

Enjoying this! Very good, tick, keep it up!
Have you considered staying up for 24 hours straight with no stimulants like coffee?
Or canoeing up the Thames?
Trying to visit every Tube station in a 24 hour period?
Watching a trial from the public gallery at the Old Bailey or another court house?
Trying six degrees of separation to see if it works?
Swimming at a London Lido or one of the Hampstead Heath pools?
Sitting for a portrait / being a life model?
Whittling a flute from a piece of wood?
Well I have now! Cheers Scraheart! xx
